In the thirties this car was one of the most expensive automobiles in America. Its classic body, custom built by Frederick Dietrich was artfully blended onto a powerful straight 8, side valve engine making it capable of a speed of over 80 mph. This car is in the private collection of Mr. Hellmuth Holze of Elgin, ILL., USA.

The Packard Victoria is a Detroit American built car at the beginning of the great recession in America. Packard was then considered the top brand with the most luxurious and expensive cars. The recession caused a huge decline in demand for large luxury cars. Packard's answer was to build cars with smaller engines.

The (Y15-2) 1930 Packard Victoria joined the range in 1969. The model was only issued in four basic color schemes.

Variations/Rarities: The first version was a in dull glossy brown/gold body & bonnet with a very dark brown chassis and a maroon or dark red hood.
Very soon after introduction the dashboard was modified where the triangular steering wheel braces were enlarged.
Again very soon after the rear axle webs were deleted.
The colour was changed to a glossy lime gold body & bonnet with a black hood. After the model had been in production for a while the coachline on the side of the body was thickened.
Then the colour scheme was again changed to a glossy black body and bonnet with red body sides and black, off-white or pure white hood.
The last issue was recoloured to dark sand/cream body & bonnet with a dark brown chassis and a brown, rusty brown or off-white hood.

All the plastic components, the grilles, hoods, seats and rear luggage trunks, are easily interchangeable which has accounted for countless premutations, some authentic, but many not.
Plastic components in blue, grey, yellow, red, green, orange, pink and brown were the results of plastics trial and were never officially released by the factory.
Several moulds were used for the front and rear bumpers, and the radiator/headlights components, and minor differences can be detected, but are not worthy of separate codes.

*One point of interest would be the Packards baseplate which has the model number and model names inscribed on a raised panel. Lesney did this when they needed to remove and replace baseplate text.
